Big 12 targeting Arizona, 5 other Pac-12 schools amid Big Ten poaching

The Big 12 is following in the footsteps of the Big Ten with its latest advancements to create a super conference.

Last week, news broke that the USC Trojans and UCLA Bruins were the newest teams in the Big Ten. The Pac-12 teams’ applications to switch conferences had been accepted, and they’re set to join the Big Ten as soon as 2024.

Now, according to CBS Sports, the Big 12 is actively working towards adding “multiple Pac-12 programs” to the conference. The Arizona Wildcats, Arizona State Sun Devils, Colorado Buffaloes, and Utah Utes are the main four programs being targeted.

However, according to CBS Sports, the Big 12 is also interested in adding the Oregon Ducks and Washington Huskies to the mix. This would make it the largest conference in the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision with 18 teams.

As for UCLA and USC, they will continue to play under the Pac-12 until 2024, when they will shift over to the Big Ten. These moves are groundbreaking for NCAA football.

According to Ross Dellenger of Sports Illustrated, “several” other teams from the Pac-12 are interested in moving to the Big Ten.

This spells competition for the Big 12, which has to move quickly.
