Brooks Koepka set to continue rivalry with Bryson DeChambeau in Saudi-backed tour

Another star golfer is leaving the PGA for LIV Golf. This time, it’s 4-time major champion Brooks Koepka. Koepka, who famously has a rivalry with Bryson DeChambeauis set to follow in DeChambeau’s footsteps and join the Saudi Arabian-backed tour, per Joe Pompliano, Sky Sports, and The Telegraph.

Koepka was quiet on the issue over the past few weeks. He didn’t lean in one direction or the other. He did call out the media for their constant prodding in reference to LIV Golf prior to the US Open.

“I don’t understand. I’m trying to focus on the US Open, man,” Koepka said. “I legitimately don’t get it. I’m tired of the conversations. I’m tired of all this stuff. Like I said, y’all are throwing a black cloud on the US Open. I think that sucks.”

At the time, this led some to believe that Koepka would stay on the PGA Tour. However, his unwillingness to discuss LIV Golf raised an eyebrow or two. But he ultimately decided to leave following the US Open.

With so many stars joining this tour, one has to imagine the PGA is ready to begin making counter offers. They can’t afford to continue losing big name stars on the circuit.

Koepka is one of the most high-profile names in the sport. He has a cult following amongst younger fans due to his laidback demeanor on the course. His nonchalant attitude has also rubbed other fans the wrong way.

Nevertheless, we will see how his decision to join LIV Golf affects his following.
