Modern-day love story between two couples who have agreed to be at odds? A Bollywood film with the strength to embrace physicality without limits? The film finally will take mature viewers seriously. Could anything be better? Gehraiyaan is awe-inspiring, but falls well from delivering.
The first thing to do is. The reality that Deepika Padukone‘s main character Alisha also known as Al being an independent woman in her self, who makes an income, and has scars from her history, is something that deserves worth celebrating. The relationship she has with stable Karan (Dharya Karwa) as a wannabe writer working ad nauseam at his laptop, twirls between old annoyances and affections. On a weekend getaway with Al’s wealthy cousin Tia (Ananya Pandey) and her busy-making-millions-in-real estate loverboy Zain (Siddhant Chaturvedi), things start shifting, and it all becomes a breathless kaleidoscope of lust and betrayal.
The film impresses by showing the speed at which things can change and how a small mistake can trigger an unending series of falsehoods. The shocking intimacy that is created by a text, real names being saved in other names, the perpetual sub-plot of connecting with another person, all even while pretending to be a couple. We’ve all seen how situations escalate, and how pliable even boundaries that appear to be solid and how they could be the many apes on the floor that nobody would like to discuss.
This quartet should be a rumbling hot mess, with emotions pouring out from tightly-reined-in history that shattered us. Director Shakun Batra was adept in mining the darkest of complexities in the film ‘Kapoor and Sons’. “Gehraiyaan” doesn’t go far enough; it’s too streamlined and choppy. The swirl of thinly clad bodies lying in bed, the sparks between two people who are unable to hold their hands from one another: we are able to have all this, but we just don’t feel enough of it.
There’s always something to be experienced when admiring such beautiful individuals, perfectly manicured and well-put together. Deepika’s gorgeous messy hairstyle is not like the rest of us who wear our hair with care She looks well-groomed even when her hair is cut in pieces. Similar can be said of the other ladies (Siddhant, Ananya, Dhairya) and of Rajat Kapoor, who appears as Zain’s business associate Check, casual beachwear and check, formal outfit Check. No one, not even the toughest clothing Nazi will be able to resist the elegant clothes and the wide range of beautiful well-toned bodies. Everybody uses the word “f” often, and sprinkles it into their conversations. This is all lovely but it’s important to get the screen off among the gorgeous landscape.
The only character in this group that is authentically rumpled and swollen to be real is Naseeruddin Shah playing Al’s father. When they’re together, the movie manages to breathe and also reaches towards us.
Gehraiyaan movie cast: Deepika Padukone, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Ananya Panday, Dhairya Karwa, Rajat Kapoor, Naseeruddin Shah
Gehraiyaan movie director: Shakun Batra
Gehraiyaan movie rating: 2 stars
Gehraiyaan movie review: Deepika Padukone, Ananya Panday film is too designed, Download
In Gehraiyaan, Shakun Batra sets the tone early in the film. The story follows Alisha, a yoga instructor, who is struggling to make ends meet. Meanwhile, her writer boyfriend Karan is trying to get his book published and wants to be with her. Both women are in a similar position, but the chemistry between them is strained and awkward. Even though the film isn’t without its moments of poignancy, it’s hard not to feel sympathy for them.
This movie is a good example of the director’s storytelling abilities. The characters are complex, with many twists and turns. While a lot of the story revolves around infidelity, the characters are human and flawed. The story is also sensitive, dealing with broken relationships, infidelity, and trauma with sensitivity and taste. Kaushal Shah, the cinematographer, and Savera Mehta’s music are beautiful.
The film speaks to the changing circumstances of everyday life, especially in relationships. It also deals with the short attention span of humans and the tendency to take our relationships for granted. In this regard, the two main couples in the film, Alisha Khanna and Karan, and Zain and Tia, are well matched in terms of chemistry and love. However, the relationship between Alisha and Zain is a little problematic, so it’s important to pay attention to the characters’ pasts before you see what they are up to.
This film is not about infidelity or intimacy in the traditional sense. It’s more about familial relationships than romantic ones. The story is as much about families and couples as it is about individuals. Intimacy and infidelity are both important elements, but the depth of the story is what makes the movie so enjoyable. The movie is not a romance; it’s a realistic depiction of a complicated relationship.
The movie’s themes are complex, and it’s a difficult one to analyze without spoiling the film’s story. While it’s full of heartbreak and romantic scenes, it isn’t a perfect film. There are too many plot twists and lingering moments. There are a couple of clunky scenes that are overdone and a lack of a coherent narrative.
The actors are excellent and the script is compelling. The storyline is complicated, but it’s a good one. The characters have strong personalities and the dialogue is realistic, so there’s no need to worry about a dull moment. The movie is well-paced, and its pacing is perfect. Its length is 2 hours and 28 minutes, which is a great length for a Bollywood film.
The characters are well-developed, and the movie is a good example of the power of a good performance. Deepika is a great star, and her role is excellent. It’s a heartbreaking film that’s worth seeing. It’s a great movie and will leave you wanting more. But make sure you’re prepared for some heartbreak and a lot of misunderstanding. This film is not without its charm.
The director’s directing skills are excellent. The movie’s ambiguous plot and layered performances will leave you awestruck. The film is beautifully shot, and its OAFF, Kabeer Kathpalia, and Ayesha Devitre are all superb. But, despite its flaws, Gehraiyaan is a good movie and a good drama. The two leads are superb.
While the underlying story is well-written and beautifully shot, Gehraiyaan is a complex movie with a long runtime. While it is not particularly complex, there are a few lingering moments that make it difficult to get absorbed into it. The actress’s tense and trembling hands make the film even more believable. It’s hard not to like the lead, but the story has a lot of heart.
The film is an achingly beautiful love story with a climax that will leave you breathless. Although the pacing is slow, it’s still a worthy watch. There’s a lot to love in this movie, and the cast is superb. The climax will be spine-tingling, and will leave you with plenty of witty thoughts. The nuances of the story are a real highlight in the film.
