Facebook has introduced a new set of tools for group admins to curb the spread of misinformation. The Meta-owned social media platform announced that these new tools are another step against false information, as the company tries to prevent misinformation from spreading. These features will not just help in identifying fake information, but also help in reducing the workload of the group admins and will eventually make them more efficient at managing the groups.
Admin Assist is the first new feature introduced by Facebook. This feature offers admins the ability to automatically reject incoming posts in the group that contains false information.
The “mute” functionality has been renamed to “suspend” and has also been improved further for admins and moderators to not just mute, but temporarily suspend group members from participating in a group chat. This includes posting, reacting, commenting and even creating or entering a room in a group.
Facebook has added another feature that enables admins to automatically accept or reject member requests, based on certain criteria. This feature will make it easier for admins to manage their groups.
Moreover, the Admin Home design has also been updated with a new overview page on the desktop. For mobiles, a new layout and an insights summary have been added to the same.
Admins will be able to download or copy/paste from the Share menu and advertise their groups as Facebook has also added QR codes support. People will be directed to the group’s About, where they can join or request to join the group, on scanning the QR code. Furthermore, the option for admins to send email invites to people for joining their groups has also been added.
