google play store users russia: Google Play Store users in Russia won’t be able to buy apps, games soon

Google has informed Android developers that Play Store users in Russia will not be able to purchase apps, games, IAPs and subscriptions. According to 9to5Google, the company cited “payment system disruption” for “pausing” Google Play billing in the coming days.
Apart from application purchases, an individual will no longer be able to make subscription payments or in-app purchases of any kind of “digital goods” using Google Play in Russia.
The company, however, stated that free apps will continue to be available for download, alongside any past purchases. Apart from this, there are no other changes to Google Play Store’s availability in Russia. Developers can still publish and update applications.
According to the report, subscriptions will continue till the end of the current billing period but it will be cancelled after that over lack of payments. To stand by users, Google is mulling to defer user renewal, which is only possible for up to a year.
During the deferred period, a user will retain full access to the content but they will not be charged during the deferral period. The company will update the renewal date to reflect the new date.
Another option present in front of the company is making the applications free or removing paid subscriptions during the “paused period”. This move is intended to provide access to “critical service to users”.
From tech firms to financial corporations, a ton of companies have pulled out of Russia due to the ongoing military conflict in Ukraine. The suspension of services is a ripple effect.
